The Smart Home

Your car parks itself in the garage when you get home from work. The front door unlocks for you. The house turns on the lights and turns them off when you go to bed. Coffee is ready when you get up in the morning. And your digital assistant already has your whole schedule planned out for you. This is the future, but this future is not far away. This future is the Smart Home.

All of these amazing features are made possible through the communication of various devices, all working in tandem to complete a given task. Oftentimes, a digital assistant like Siri or Google Assistant will use data collected from you in order to make informed decisions for the behavior of your smart devices. For example, your phone may know what time you usually get up, so your phone will alert your coffee machine to prepare a brew at the time that you will most likely wake. Other examples may include a smart thermostat, like Nest, which determines how best to keep your home warm or cool while keeping your air conditioning bills low. Or even Philips Hue, a line of smart light bulbs which can be controlled by your phone and can even change color.

But where we come in with all this is LiftMaster's MyQ technology. With MyQ, you can open, close, and monitor your garage door from anywhere in the world from your tablet, smartphone, or watch. And soon, MyQ will integrate with Siri through Apple's HomeKit. Ask Siri whether your door is open or ask her to close it. It's that simple.

You can find LiftMaster MyQ-enabled devices in our online store or at our office in Coventry.
